New Milford eatery 1st and 10 Sports Bar and Grill on Danbury Road announced through social media that it will be closing after nine years in business. The announcement came as a shock to many.
“We are sad to announce that 1st and 10 is no longer open for business,” they posted. “We will have more info soon. Thank you to our wonderful staff and patrons for all of the great memories. We will miss you all.”
On Facebook, customers lamented the loss of one of their favorite Connecticut sports bars.
“We are so saddened by this News! For the last (five) years Chuck, and Lorraine, have helped us put together our annual autism awareness fundraising event,” Ann Kachur Jordan posted. “Not only have they helped us secure amazing raffle, and auction, items they also donated a generous portion of the food and drink sales from that day! They’ve helped us raise thousands of dollars for Autism Speaks and our walk team! We thank you and will miss you!!! We wish you all nothing but the best... “
Tommy Wyatt added, “Sorry to hear. Buddy, I know that place was your dream. By far the best sports bar I ever went to. Best food, best concept, best layout, best service. You did it right. Good luck in your next chapter.”
In total, nearly 100 1st and 10 patrons reached out to the owners to express their sorrow about the closure and hope for the future.
“Thank you Chuck at 1st & 10 for All of your years and dedication to our community!!,” one customer posted. ”You have done so much for our youth programs across our town. I hope everyone understands how greatly your establishment will be missed!! You never said no to anything that was ever asked of you and 1st & 10. Best of Luck in your next adventure!!”
